Gifts Made in America

Still having trouble getting those last minute gifts?  What about narrowing your search to items that are made in America.  While this may seem like a daunting task at first, we have many fashionable items to choose from.  Hyla DeWitt’s Dahlia necklace is a fun statement piece that will spruce up any holiday ensemble but it is also an investment that can be worn in the warmer months with a more casual look.  Hyla DeWitt designs and produces her spectacular one of a kind pieces close to home in North Carolina.

David Aubrey’s Multi Stone Statement necklace can also be worn now but will look fantastic with a spring or summer dress and it too is designed and made in America!

One of our most popular items is the rope bracelet by Kiel James Patrick, which comes in a variety of colors and is the perfect addition to anyone’s jewelry wardrobe. The rope bracelet looks great on its own or paired with sliver or gold year round.  Not only is this gift super versatile, you can also feel patriotic buying and wearing your ropes knowing they are hand crafted in Rhode Island.

Hand made holiday cards are the perfect hostess gift for your next holiday soiree and are great to stock up on so you always have some on hand for that unexpected gift giver.  These beauties are from “My Heart Skips Designs” and come in a variety of designs, all of which are made in the good old USA.  So don’t panic about those last minute gifts, with all the options out there you can find the perfect ones and feel good about supporting our great country. Happy last minute shopping!

Window Wonderland

Old town does a great job decorating and getting everyone in the holiday spirit.  One tradition that is as much fun for visitors as it is for shop owners is the Window Wonderland contest.  Each shop has the opportunity to participate in a competition for the most festive and fun window display.  This year we at Bishop have chosen to decorate our windows based on a variation of the iconic“Christmas Story” complete with the “Fragile” woman’s leg lamp and Ralphie’s pink bunny suit.

Our windows also have the traditional Christmas tree with tinsel and other sparkly treats. So wander around and take in all the amazing holiday displays then make sure to vote for your favorites on facebook or twitter but don’t wait too long  the contest ends December 9th.  Happy Holidays!

Wedges: Stylish and Comfortable

Walking to work or around town is great for your health but can wreak havoc on your shoes. Flats are an obvious choice when choosing what footwear you will navigate the streets in but if you need a slightly dressier look or just want some added height wedges are a great alternative.  The Ivanka Trump Norah Grey Suede Wedge is casual enough to wear on the weekend but the adorable bow and subtle silver hardware make it versatile enough to wear to work.

For a dressier but equally as comfortable shoe try L.K. Bennett’s patent leather wedge in traditional black or taupe.  If Princess Kate can wear them all day long, surely they are comfy enough for us everyday folks to get through an eight hour work day or cocktail party.

Rowen just came out with the Bellview red suede wedge that comes with a detachable magenta bow! This two for one shoe is ideal for holiday parties but can easily be toned down to wear sans bow to your next office meeting.  So go ahead and add some wedges to your shoe wardrobe and give your flats a well deserved break every once in a while!

Sparkle, Glitter, and Shine

It’s the holiday season and nothing says festive like a little glitter.  Sparkles on your feet are a stylish grown up way to celebrate the holidays and usher in the new year with panache.   But fear not, these celebratory accents can be worn year round so feel free to invest in a pair that you truly love.  Some of our favorites for the ultimate party girl are Ivanka Trump’s Belita sandals in black with a touch of gold glitter, the perfect way to glam up your LBD.

For a more bohemian vibe, Matt Bernson’s Jardin booties with black glitter heels are the perfect fit. These booties can toughen up any outfit and still look great with your every day jeans.

London Sole’s Henrietta ballet flats in multiglitter are also a great way to spice up your everyday look but are polished enough to pair with a dressier holiday ensemble.  Whatever style you choose just remember all that glitters isn’t always gold, it can be silver, black or multicolored too!

Black Friday Gift Guide

With Black Friday just around the corner, it is a great time to start thinking about your gift and wish lists.  It can be hard to find the perfect present for your loved ones and friends so we decided to help out with some suggestions.  You can never go wrong with scarves or gloves, especially cashmere ones. These Qi Cashmere fur gloves are super luxurious, the perfect gift for anyone at any age.

Girls of all ages love sparkles and glitter so why not give a fun cocktail ring like the disco ball from Kenneth Jay Lane.

For the more conservative recipients in your life, try the versatile and stackable Art Deco bangles from CC Skye; perfect additions that can carry any trendsetter from season to season.

If you have any little ones in your life you absolutely MUST pick up at least one pair of needlepoint booties By Paige.  The only challenge here will be picking a favorite.
And the best part about holiday shopping: picking up a little something for yourself because we all deserve a treat every now and again.  Use the Black Friday savings to grab the coveted Stanley L.K. Bennett boots: dressy enough to wear with skirts but comfortable enough to pair with jeans for a busy Saturday running errands.  So while prepping your Thanksgiving feast, start your lists and then hit the stores early for the best savings.  Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Shopping!

Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize!

Obviously we at Bishop LOVE shoes but shoes are only one piece of the fashion puzzle, a girl can never underestimate the power of accessories!  The right jewelry, scarf, or purse can really transform an ordinary outfit into something truly spectacular and fashionable.  Hyla DeWitt’s necklaces are little pieces of wearable art.   Pair one of her creations like this fantastic Cate Necklace or the colorful Nusta Necklace with any outfit for an instant pop of glam

Feeling bored with your drab winter coat and dark colors?   Add a Sir Alistair Rai scarf or a bright orange Milly bag to immediately pump up the color spectrum.

So next time you find yourself wondering if an accessory is worth investing in the answer is YES!  Because while your scarves, jewelry, or handbags might seem like after thoughts, when wearing the right ones they can quickly become the main event for any fashionista!

A Fresh Look at Patent Leather

Patent leather has been around since the late 1700s and it is still stylish, talk about standing the test of time!  While black patent leather pumps are an obvious choice why not mix it up with some color?  If you have been keeping up with the fall/winter trends you know that anything oxblood/burgundy colored is a must have.  L.K. Bennett makes an adorable patent Bordeaux pump with the sweetest bow detail; a great alternative to classic black.

Another way to update your patent shoe wardrobe is to go for a more casual look.  Ivanka Trump makes an extremely versatile and insanely comfortable nude patent flat; an ideal alternative to your everyday shoe.

And if you cannot resist the allure of a timeless black patent leather pump, think outside the box and try a fresh silhouette like this flirty Pura Lopez heel.  Just remember patent leather will always stretch, so a bit of discomfort in the store is perfectly normal.  Happy shopping!
